Floral Inspiration Spring flowers

March is here and the sun has actually been shining recently; wonderful time to be thinking about the perfect blooms for a spring wedding.

For the most cost effective option think seasonal flowers grown locally such as Spring flowering bulbs and cherry blossom.

Narcissus & Daffodils come predominately in yellow and gold but there are also whites, creams and oranges, some even with bold salmon-pink cups and several have lovely sweet perfumes. Something about seeing daffodils always makes me think of spring.

Tulips: though available all year round they are at their seasonal best in the spring. They come in a wide range of colours and shapes. From deep rich reds and purples to creams, palest pinks and pure whites, some with two tones in single and double cups, frilled and parrot forms which have petals like parrot feathers.

Hyacinth; with their single stems full of little flowers and aromatic scent in lovely shades of pinks and purples or whites and yellows (When using the heavily scented spring flowerings bulbs it’s best to have then around the room rather than on the tables.)

Other beautiful spring flowers to consider are anemones with their often contrasting centres and with delicate flowering heads: grape hyacinth (photo above), blue bells and lily of the valley.

As well as using these flowers cut in arrangements I think they look lovely planted in little decorative pots which can make great favours for your guests to take home.
