Our Big Fat Greek Wedding Anniversary

Today is our ten year wedding anniversary! It is the most glorious sunny day in London so we went out for a lovely lunch at our local Café Rouge where we sat outside in the sun and plan on having a relaxing evening at home.  We’ve been taking it easy today and making the most of the sun but I thought I’d share a few photos from our wedding day.

We had a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at St Sophia’s Cathedral in Bayswater followed by dinner and lots of dancing at The Carlton Tower on Cadogan Square. It really was an amazing day that was just the beginning of a wonderful marriage.

I designed my 3 piece wedding dress and my parents who owned a dress factory at the time made it for me. I also had great fun making my tiara and earrings.

Dancing the traditional Greek ladies dance

Now bearing in mind we got married 10 years ago I don’t have many digital images of our wedding so I took some photos of our wedding album by our fabulous photographers Storybook Weddings.

Something to make you smile…

So I thought I’d share something a little different with you today, a couple of little videos that I’ve seen recently that have nothing to do with weddings but made me happy and by posting them here I know I can come back to them when I want to.

This sweet video was posted by Belle Amour via Colour Me Kate by Improv Everywhere. A megaphone was set up on a lectern with a sign attached asking people to “Say Something Nice” which was then placed around various spots in New York, and filmed….

So did it make you smile-I know I did.

This second video “100 Years of Dance“  posted by Beyond Beyond via  @justnoey is just fabulous with all the different outfit changes and dance styles. When I worked at the BBC Costume Store designers/stylists would call us up and ask up to put outfits together for various films, TV ads etc and I would have LOVED to have got the call for this one…enjoy!

So have you seen any fab videos recently that made you smile? I'd love to see them...

A fab little idea: heart leaf garland

I came across this cute DIY project the other day on Colour Me Katie: Something Old to Something New and thought this could be a fab little idea to incorporate into an autumnal wedding. These lovely garlands are made using leaves that had fallen to the ground and a heart stamp. Imagine all the beautiful colours you could use from greens to autumnal oranges and red.

You could use them to dress the back of you chairs, decorate a cake table or how about a whole wall of them as a backdrop to a photo booth or even your ceremony…

Go take a look at the post for how to make the garlands and while you’re there take a look around the blog there are lots of lovely things there; thank you to Belle Amour for the introduction.

Back in April I had the immense pleasure of planning the wedding of Anne and Seb (see their engagement shoot here) and I’m delighted to say that the lovely Lou from Whimsical Wonderland Weddings has featured their wedding as photographed by Shell de Mar on her beautiful blog, in two parts:
